Kyrgyz Government held the first meeting of the Organizing Committee for the World Mountain Forum 2018

Following the agenda of the meeting of the Organizing Committee, an Inter-Ministerial work plan was discussed and approved. The work plan determines the interaction of ministries, responsibilities and the timetable for the implementation of activities for the preparation and holding of the WMF2018. In addition, a report on the selection process of the participants of the forum and the development of the forum program was presented to the members of the Organizing committee. Other organizational issues were also considered and recommendations for the implementation of the work plan were made.
According to the organizers, within the framework of the World Mountain Forum, the Youth Mountain Forum is planned to be held jointly with UNICEF, and the Exhibition Mountain Pavilion "MountainEXPO" will be opened for public in the Museum of Fine Arts.
The World Mountain Forum 2018 “Mountains in a Changing World: Strengthening Partnerships and Pathways towards a Thriving Mountain Future” is the fourth in the series of World Mountain Forums (WMF), following three previous World Mountain Forums, each in different mountain regions of the world – in Switzerland in 2011, in Peru in 2014 and in Uganda two years ago.
World Mountain Forums is a joint initiative of the mountain countries of the world aimed at advancing sustainable mountain development agenda (SMD) and striving to integrate mountain related issues into global negotiations processes.

The University of Central Asia's (UCA) Mountain Societies Research Institute is accepting registrations and contributions for the Youth Mountain Forum – a pre-conference side event organized in partnership with UNICEF Kyrgyzstan. The Youth Mountain Forum will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on October 22nd at the G. Aitiev State Art Museum. To contribute to the discussion of sustainable mountain development issues, UCA and UNICEF invite students and young professionals from Central Asia and Mountain Partnership countries of Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific to submit contributions addressing global change issues in context of the four thematic tracks of the World Mountain Forum 2018.
